Just 1 and 1/2 hours South of Nelson on State Highway 6 you will find the tranquil town of Murchison.  The gateway to the West Coast from the North.

The Buller River runs from its source at St Arnaud to the sea at Westport on the West Coast. (176 km’s long) With four major rivers joining the Buller within 15kms, North, South, East, and West of Murchison, we are surrounded by water. With the West Coast’s annual rainfall second only to Hawaii’s Kowhai Island, this gives us runnable white water all year round. Once you reach Murchison, stay on the main highway through town and look for the Mobil station, we are on the other side of the street in a blue cottage. There are plenty of signs, you can’t miss us!
